Please help in the federal Medicaid fight
-- Contact your Senators
We need your help right away to prevent a major setback on the
road to providing decent health care for everyone. Many in
Washington have set their sights on the Medicaid program as a slush
fund to pay for making tax cuts permanent, among other things. We
need to stop this effort in its tracks, and we need your help now.
The federal fight over Medicaid is really a fight over two
things—money and priorities. That’s why the battle over next year’s
federal budget is so critical to those who think everyone should
have the health care they need and deserve. The budget will
determine who gets what they need and who gets shut out—which
programs get adequate funding and which get cut. Unfortunately, we
already know that Medicaid will be on the chopping block. We
need anyone who cares about fair access to health care to do
everything they can to preserve Medicaid as a guarantee of health
care to those who have nowhere else to turn.
We urge you to contact your Senators before the end of
the year. The message: Medicaid must be
preserved—capping and cutting federal Medicaid funding would be
devastating to state economies and to those who depend on Medicaid
for their health care lifeline, including children, people with
disabilities, and workers who can't get health coverage through
their jobs. To find out how to contact your Senators,

If your Senator agrees with you and has already signed a Senate
letter to the President, please be sure to thank him or her!
